About the Course:
The Foundation Course in Environmental Auditng covers the practice and knowledge required by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) for admission at Associate Auditor status. The Environmental Auditor Foundation Training Course is a 5 day intensive programme with practical group work sessions, detailed case study notes and support from experienced environmental professionals who are registered auditors. In addition, there is an actual environmental audit of a local company to provide valuable “hands-on” experience. Participants are assessed by means of examination at the conclusion of the course. Delegate numbers are restricted to 10 per tutor to allow for individual interaction with course tutors.

Course objectives:
To provide systematic training to IEMA standards. To enable suitably qualified individuals to carry out the responsibilities of an environmental auditor

Course Delivery:
Senior course tutors supported by an extensive course manual; Interactive training sessions with DVD’s, PowerPoint, case study documentation and practical group work activity. On-site practical audit. Written reports and a 2 hour written examination.

Course Content:
Day 1:
Course overview, Environmental Management Systems, Eco Regulations and relationships,
audit types, pre-audit and policy statements. (Including evening work.)

Day 2:
Audit planning, checklists, activities and interviewing, environmental impacts/aspects -
identification, quantification, information. (Including evening work.)

Day 3:
Environmental aspects assessment, on-site audit preparation, practical on-site audit.
(Including evening work.)

Day 4:
Legislation and regulation, plenary sessions - post audit activities and course revision.
(Including evening work.)

Day 5:
Close out meeting and course examination

Successful completion of the course and the examination (70%) will entitle the delegate to 10 IEMA points - the equivalent to Associate environmental auditor level. NB Points are awarded by IEMA not the training provider.
