Emergency First Aid - Appointed Person

Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for any employee that has been designated an Appointed Person. An Appointed Person is someone who can take charge of an emergency situation should the need arise. An Appointed Person is ideal for small businesses or as a back up for cover for more qualified first aiders.

Course Content
General introduction and purpose of first aid
Role and responsibility of a first aider
Dealing with accidents and illness
Assessment of a situation and casualty
Causes, symptoms and treatment of shock
Assessment of consciousness
Assessment of wounds and bleeding
Fractures, sprains and strains
Treatment of burns and scalds
Basic life support
Contents of a first aid box

Benefits of the Course
At the end of the course, candidates will be able to assess, treat and follow up situations covered in the course content.

Duration
The duration of the course is 6 hours. We usually aim to start the course at 9.30am and therefore taking into account time for refreshment and lunch breaks, the course usually finishes around 4.30pm.


Assessment
There is a short multi-choice test at the end of the course. Candidates are required to correctly answer 12 out of 15 questions in order to achieve an Emergency First Aid - Appointed Person Certificate, issued by Envesca. The certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue.

Entry Qualifications and Progression
There are no entry qualifications for this course. Following this course you might wish to consider the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace .
