Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Course duration:
2 years
Entry Requirements:
It is mandatory to hold (or be prepared to attend) Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS). In addition candidates must have access to 150 hours of teaching practice to demonstrate competence in a specific subject area appropriate to their level.
Audience:
This is a teacher training course for those wishing to pursue a full teaching role in the adult sector and is a requirement for new tutors in teaching in the adult sector.
Course Content:
To achieve the DTLLS award, you will build a portfolio of work that includes written assignments and practical activities to aid teaching and learning. This is a two year course with direct delivery of workshops. Candidates will be supported with tutorials to complete assignments leading to completion of a portfolio of work. The benefits include individual support available with access to peer and tutor support to enable candidates to progress at own rate and level.

- Working in the Learning and Teaching Context
- Action Research
- Developing and Managing Resources in the Lifelong Learning Sector
- Enabling Learner Independence and Self Determination for Specialist Teachers of Learners with Cognitive Learning Difficulties
- Continuing Personal and Professional Development
- Curriculum Design for Inclusive Practice
- Wider Professional Practice
- Literacy/Numeracy Theories and Frameworks
- Integrating Literacy, Language and Numeracy into the Learning of Vocational and other subjects
There are both mandatory and various optional units to suit most candidates’ specialism.
Progression options
Candidates can work towards a specialism in own sector to then apply for QTLS or licence to teach (Professional Formation )
