Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CoSHH) Assessment Workshop

Course duration: 1 day.

The workshop is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills to understand the principles and methodology of risk assessment and their practical application to processes involving potential exposure to chemical and other hazardous substances.

Work processes that involve the use or generation of chemicals or other hazardous substances can have a significant effect on people’s health. Employers and self employed people are required to eliminate, reduce or control exposure to hazardous substances to prevent ill health.

Is it right for me?
This one day workshop is aimed at anybody who has a responsibility to manage health and safety or who has been appointed by their employer to conduct risk assessments in compliance with the CoSHH Regulations.

What will I learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Appreciate the moral, legal and financial reasons for reducing injury and ill health resulting from work activities.
- Understand the relationship between hazard, risk, risk assessment and safe systems of work.
- Understand the hazards and risks associated with exposure to hazardous substances.
- Be able to interpret information relating to hazardous substances.
- Be able to identify appropriate control measures to reduce the risk of harm from exposure to harmful substances.
- Be able to apply the principles and methodology to the risk assessment of processes that expose personnel to the potentially harmful effects of hazardous substances.
