- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations and changes since initiation
- Expectations of Employers and Employees
- Chemicals
- Understanding chemicals and how they may cause effects
- Types of affect, typical health symptoms, the types and requirements of health assessments
- Monitoring and Minimising Exposure
- Occupational hygiene and workplace monitoring and basic toxicology
- Use of datasheets and where to obtain key information
- Preventing or minimising exposure – methods and techniques
- Identification, assessment and control of substances hazardous to health
- Performing an assessment within the workplace using assessment forms (in-house / supplied forms)

Half Day

Suitable For:
This course ensures staff who handle chemicals understand their effects and how to ensure compliance with the Control of Substance Hazardous to Health Regulations 2004 are aware of their duties and are competent to perform them

Objectives:
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- Understand the legal requirements for the safe use of chemicals and the expectations of employers and employees
- Recognise how chemicals can cause effects
- Identify the types of effects and symptoms that chemicals may produce
- Understand the requirements for workplace monitoring
- Complete a chemical risk assessment
- Use material safety datasheets and CoSHH assessments to ensure safe working practices
