Confined Space Course Entry using Escape Sets - 1 Day (NC1, NC2 + NC3 see below)

Who For?
Designed for personnel who have to or may have to enter a confined space.
Please Note: This Confined Space Entry Course includes the use of 15 minutes Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus (Escape Set), but does NOT qualify personnel in the use of full breathing apparatus.

Confined Space Course (Entry) Objective
The aim of this course is to provide all course candidates with a firm understanding of the current legislation regarding confined space entry and safe work in a confined space. Including being able to identify the types of confined spaces and their hazards and the ability to enter a confined space and apply the safe and correct procedures for entry into, working within, and the emergency procedure for confined space operations.

Content: 
- Awareness of Confined Space legislation 
- Ability to recognise and identify a confined space 
- Understanding of the hazards associated with confined spaces 
- Ability to identify and use specialist equipment required for confined space entry 
- Awareness of Health & Hygiene aspects of the confined space environment 
- An understanding of the personalities and their duties regarding confined spaces procedures 
- Practical exercises using confined space equipment 
- Confined space entry exercise using escape sets

Certification
All persons who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate for Confined Space Entry Course Attendance and a site card, valid for three years.

Low Risk Confined Space
NC1 Classification
Low risk shallow entry with adequate natural or mechanical ventilation, where access is simple and unobstructed and there is no likely risk of flooding. Eg: meter pits, valve chambers, booster-pumping stations, PRV chambers.

Medium Risk Confined Space
NC2 Classification
Vertical direct unobstructed access with continuous attachment to a man riding hoist or similar mechanical rescue device.

Medium Risk Confined Space
NC3 Classification
When it is not possible to have persons permanently attached to a safety line. Usually it will be a team entry which moves away from the entry point. Eg: Man entry sewers, utility service subway tunnels, aqueducts and complex wet walls. Working without an attached rescue line and includes working away from the point of entry.
