City & Guilds 7303 Certificate: Preparation to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS)
Overview
This practical and highly participative programme has been customised by this trainer for anyone who needs to develop accredited training skills in the commercial environment. The qualification also provides the foundation for any learner wishing to progress to the certificate or diploma in teaching (QTLS or DTLS) and conforms with the government’s guidelines for teacher training in the lifelong learning sector. The content has been developed from our highly successful 7331 award, which has provided excellent foundation training for in-company trainers for over twenty years. The Pivotal 7303 award continues our tradition of excellence in trainer training, aligned with the new qualification framework for those working in the adult learning sector.
Duration
10 days.
Who Should Attend
In-company trainers, line managers, team leaders and supervisors who need to train and coach others at work.
Why Study for 7303 with Us?
This trainer's C&G 7303 enables delegates to learn from each other and receive expert guidance from the tutor, in addition to maximum training time “on their feet.” Our delegates will not be required to build their portfolio of evidence, practise training and be assessed back in the workplace. All of this takes place on the course, under the expert guidance of our tutors. As a result, delegates return to the workplace confident, skilled and ready to implement what they have learnt straight away.
Content Includes
The programme is practical and participative and is run in a friendly and supportive environment. Our tutors “practice what they preach” to ensure the whole course is a live learning experience. Delegates will learn through a combination of trainer inputs, discussions, group work and personal reflection. Groups are small, with a maximum of eight delegates on each course to allow for maximum tutor time.The course is fully interactive, and makes use of the on-line learning resource at City and Guilds Smartscreen. Assessment is through a combination of observed “microteach” sessions within the group that are recorded, and simple written assignments which are assessed and marked during the course.
Delegates will be provided with both a comprehensive set of course notes for reference plus a copy of Ann Gravells’ book “Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.” Ann Gravells’ book will be provided to delegates before the course.
Before the Course
Delegates will be asked to prepare/bring the following:
Read Ann Gravells on “The Learning Cycle”;
Assign a mentor in the workplace for pre and post course guidance and support;
Bring to the course any live examples of work, including session plans, schemes of work and/or the syllabus they are training currently;
Complete a simple assessment of numeracy and literacy skill;
Bring one or two small items of equipment and/or material that can be used to demonstrate simple practical tasks to other members of the group. Typical items are those from the delegate’s work place, home or hobbies that are easily carried and enable them to train to others;
Bring their laptop, as assignments must be word processed. There will be equipment available on the course, but it is preferable if the delegate can bring their own;
They will undertake preparation work in the evenings.
During the course they will be assessed as an individual on the following aspects of training, to City & Guilds 7303 standards:
The theory of their role and responsibilities in:
the training cycle;
handling current relevant legislative requirements and codes of practice design, assessment and evaluation of effective learning;
Their practical skills as a trainer, evidenced by:
Schemes of work;
