Course overview

This 1 day training course provides delegates with underpinning knowledge in order to understand the Basic Principles that govern Communications Cabling. The course provides delegates with a thorough understanding of network cabling and structured cabling systems.

The course looks at the different types of copper cabling media including Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat6a and other high bandwidth copper cabling systems. In addition, the course also takes a look at optical fibres otherwise known as fibre optic cabling, to include a summary of single mode (sm) and multimode (mm) as well as common communications cabling definitions and current communications cabling standards.

The Basic Principles of Communications Cabling City and Guilds 3667-02: 101 course is aimed at anyone who is thinking of entering into the communications cabling installation industry. It also forms part of the newly designated training government led initiatives to increase the skills and underpinning knowledge of candidates who feel they have gaps in their basic knowledge of applying communications technology.

Assessment
All candidates are assessed via 25 multiple choice questions - this is a ‘closed book’ examination and is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds Gola system.
All candidates are given their results at the end of the examination.
