CIEH Level 3 Award: Converting from PTC/TSP to PTLLS

Who should attend:
The PTLLS (Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) qualification has been developed for anyone entering teaching or training roles or already in service who needs to achieve the minimum threshold status as a teacher in the lifelong learning sector – that is, adult and community learning and development, further education, libraries, archives and information services and work-based learning.
This conversion course will enable you to extend your existing knowledge and skills
Why you should attend:
In accordance with the new standards set by DfES together with Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), all existing trainers and teachers working in the publicly-funded sector will have to hold a recognised teaching qualification by December 2010
The training programme:
This course is designed to be delivered over 2 days, not including time for preparation and assignments
Course content:
- Demonstrating/sharing learning through evaluation of a recent training session
- The use of assessment in different contexts
- Negotiating and using an individual learning plan
- Identifying teacher roles
- Current legislation, codes of practice and professional standards
- Equality, diversity and promoting inclusion
- Record keeping
- Evaluting teaching and continuous improvement
- Understanding the transition from trainer to teacher
Assessment
You are required to complete two Assignments, set by CIEH, within six months of the end of the training course.
Assignment 2 is a written assignment (approximately 1,200 words) focused on the role
and responsibilities of the teacher.
Assignment 3 is a written assignment (no word limit) that asks you to review a teaching
session and develop two more session plans.
Trainers can provide feedback to candidates on up to two drafts of the assignments
before submission to the CIEH. Trainers should indicate, on the assignment history page
of the relevant CAR, the type and level of feedback provided.
