Overview:
This qualification is designed for those who use substances hazardous to health at work. It introduces candidates to substances, the risks and controls available, and outlines what to expect from a control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) assessment. The qualification will prepare employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in their workplace.

Course Objectives:
The qualification covers the following topics:
- Definition and types of substances hazardous to health in the workplace
- Health effects of hazardous substances and their causes
- COSHH assessments and control options
- Responsibilities imposed by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002

Progression Opportunities:
The CIEH Level 2 Award in the principals of COSHH provides a solid knowledge foundation to build upon. The course will offer the opportunity to progress and work towards the CIEH Intermediate Certificate in supervising Health and Safety. This qualification can also be used towards obtaining your NVQ qualification.

Additional Information:
Learners must attend the full session in order to qualify for the written examination at the end of the day. The examination will consist of thirty multiple choice questions and must be completed within one hour. Candidates that achieve 20 or more correct answers will pass the examination and receive a certificate.

Examination results and certification will take approximately two weeks to process.
