Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplace conditions and have the right systems and methods for safe activities. But employees have a vital part to play in the equation. They need the right knowledge and the right attitude which demands proper training in the basics of health & safety as well as specific training for individual tasks. Good health & safety standards rely on employers and employees working together to reduce risks.

This new qualification is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public. It is applicable in any private or public sector environment.

AIM
To provide employees with an understanding of the principles of health & safety; enabling employees to contribute to any health & safety management system. To develop an
understanding of responsibilities placed on employers and employees hazard/risk and the main causes of harm to workers. The importance of following systems, procedures
and rules; how individual action can reduce risks to health and safety is also stressed.
