Appraisals

Management Skills

Course Aims:
It is vitally important for organisations to achieve continuous improvement; and appraisals are a very effective way of achieving this aim.Appraisals should be about reviewing an individual's progress, identifying training needs and setting new achievable objectives that motivate an individual to realise their real potential.

All too often however, appraisals can have the reverse effect. They can turn from something positive into a confrontational meeting, where the manager can have difficulty getting their point across successfully, and the appraisees can become defensive and resistant to change. As a result, managers learn to loathe them and employees fear them.

This course will highlight a number of approaches and a wealth of techniques and tactics to ensure that the appraisal process becomes more structured, productive and positive and is welcomed by both appraiser and appraisees because of a positive approach.

This one-day course is designed to examine the principles of the performance appraisal system and how to get the best out of it from everyone's perspective.
