Objective
Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 (1982 in Northern Ireland), an appointed person is one who takes charge in
a situation when an accident involving injury or illness occurs during the absence of a certificated First Aider.

• Asphyxia and resuscitation
• Heart disorders and shock
• Conscious and unconscious casualties
• Burns and scalds
• Wounds and bleeding
• Common workplace injuries
• Content of First Aid Boxes
• Simple documentation

Who should attend
Anyone who wishes to achieve 'appointed person' status within their workplace and have reasonable capability to take charge in a
situation when an accident involving injury or illness occurs in the absence of a certificated First Aider.

Course benefits
This one day course is recognised by the Health & Safety Executive as suitably qualifying individuals as 'First Aid - Appointed
Persons'.

Certificates

Trainers background
The trainer for this course has extensive experience in design and delivery of first aid programmes. They are qualified by St Johns
ambulance and previously held the position of First Aid trainer for the Central Scotland Police force for a number of years.
