Appointed Person (Lifting Operations)

Four Days- 8 number

Who should Attend
Supervisors and managers with a responsibility for lifting operations, who have sufficient experience of the use of cranes, to meet the requirements specified in British Standard 7121 Safe use of Cranes.


Aims of Training
To make candidates more aware of the appointed person’s responsibilities an how best to fulfil them. To demonstrate an ability to interpret and apply sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the BS 7121 Safe Use of Cranes.

• Safe systems of work including method statements
• Personal responsibilities
• Cranes: types and terms
• Crane documentation
• Crane stability, duty charts and safety devices
• Tower crane appreciation
• British Standard 7121
• Planning a lift
• End Test

Entry Requirements
Personnel selection is critical. The position of an appointed person carries a great deal of responsibility and only suitable personnel should be selected for this role. A self profile form will be sent to you when you book on the course. This form will help you determine your level of knowledge. This is a purely theoretical course, there is no practical crane exercise as this is classroom based.

Certification
National Construction College Certificate and CPCS Trained Operator Card.
