Who Should Attend

This course is designed for computer users with little or no previous experience of the internet. Anyone who feels that they need to develop a better understanding of basic internet concepts and anyone who feels that they are wasting time on the internet will benefit from attending this course. Some knowledge of computer basics and working with Windows is expected. The topics covered on our "Introduction to Microsoft Windows" course are an adequate prerequisite for this course.

Course Objectives
This half day course aims to introduce basic internet concepts to new users. This course will develop an understanding of much of the hardware and software terminology associated with the internet. A primary objective of this course is to give new users confidence in accessing the world wide web. After attending this course participants will be familiar with browsing the internet with Microsoft Internet Explorer. The course will also enable users to send and receive e-mail with or without files attached.

- Surfing the World Wide Web.
- Storing Favourites.
- Clearing History. - Specifying your preferred home site.
- Using alternative search engines.
- Using advanced search criteria.
- Sending and receiving e-mail.
- Attaching files to e-mail.
- Receiving attached files.
- Zipping and unzipping attached files.
- Managing your e-mail storage system.
