Objectives:

On completion of the course, delegates shall be able to: 
- Select and mount safely the correct type of disc or wheel for the task to be carried out. 
- To fully understand their duties and responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. 
- The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and, 
- Safety in the use of Abrasive Wheels HS (G) 17.

Who for: 
- All personnel required to operate Abrasive Wheels or Cutting off Discs. 
- All personnel required to change Abrasive Wheels or Cutting off Discs.

- The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 
- Construction (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1996. 
- COSHH Regulations 2002 
- PPE Regulations 1992 
- PUWER 1998 
- Safety in the use of Abrasive Wheels HS(G) 17 
- Manual Handling Regulations 1992 
- Types and Functions of Abrasive Wheels and Cutting off Discs 
- The selection, testing, mounting and storage of Abrasive Wheels and Cutting off Discs. 
- The care, maintenance, transport and handling of Abrasive Wheels and Cutting off Discs.

Training method:
This course is highly participative with both Theory and Practical sessions, highlighted by the use of PowerPoint presentation. A written paper incorporated in order to prove the delegates understanding of the relevant information.

HS(G) 17 quotes regulation 9. “ The Certificate of appointment must specify the classes or description of abrasive wheels that the operative has been appointed to mount”.

Your company can ensure that your operatives receive training for the relevant type of equipment clearly specifying the type of equipment that they will be using.
i.e. Stihl Saw, Diamond Tipped Cutting Disc, Abrasive Cutting Disc.
Angle Grinder using Cutting off Discs and Grinding Discs, or Pedestal/Bench Grinder etc.

All delegates must be in possession of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
Gloves, Goggles, Ear Defenders, Safety Boots/Shoes, Overalls
